Both-side-ism: Journalism's False Balance

(it's like comparing apples to armadillos)

When any veteran of the plant-based arena is interviewed - someone with DECADES of evidence-based, peer-reviewed scientific data and applicable experience - the media will often include an opposing viewpoint. As balanced as this journalistic approach may seem, too many opposing "experts" have maybe written a book or became famous because of offering click-bait controversy. Drama sells. Conflict sells. Sensational headlines sell. This false and imbalanced comparison between two opposing viewpoints has contributed to public distrust. It's also a kind of (intentional or unintentional) slap in the face to respected, veteran pioneers and advocates. So, please do research, check your sources, and go deeper than a 12-second, click-bait sound bite.
