Tools + Toys
tools to get started... toys to keep going
There are essential tools worth investing in: chef knife (or two), serrated knife, pairing knife, cutting boards, food processor, blender, wok, sauce pans, stock pot, ball jars, storage containers, mixing bowls, sieves, measuring tools, utensils, and toaster oven. That said, just start with whatever you have in your kitchen and add as you go. Second hand shops have these items at a steal. If you have a bigger budget: Calphalon or all-clad cookware sets work well, a spiralizer creates fun with food, a slow-cooker is useful for busy people, and a spice grinder makes your inner chef happy. Most vital? A good chef knife, sharpener, and board.
